Our Experience

Mbuso Zozi, our head coach, has been surfing for over 17 years and coaching for more than 10. He has taught everyone from small kids to adults in their 80s, whether it’s their very first time or they want to fine tune their technique.

Born and raised in Muizenberg, Mbuso knows these waves like the back of his hand. He doesn’t just check the conditions, he reads them. Every SurfXCape lesson is adapted in real time to suit both the ocean and the individual.

What really sets Mbuso apart is his passion. He genuinely enjoys teaching and sharing the stoke of surfing. He cares deeply about each person he takes into the water, and it shows in the way he teaches. Your experience matters to him.

We understand that surfing can be intimidating, especially if it’s your first time or if you can’t swim. And that’s okay.

Mbuso’s calm, encouraging approach is focused on you. Whether you’re nervous about the current or unsure how to handle the board, you’ll get thoughtful, personal guidance based on your needs and pace.

Mbuso grew up in a local township, and surfing opened doors to a different life. Now, he’s using SurfXCape not just to teach, but to give back.

Through our Surf & Donate program, part of your lesson fee helps support young local surfers who are training to compete at national and international levels. Your booking contributes to travel costs, contest fees, and gear.
